Over 1,300 puppies and kittens have found loving homes through our Adoption Center!

Did you know that one female cat and her offspring can produce over 420,000 kittens in 7 years? Spaying and neutering your pet is the best “fix” to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens.
Besides promoting and providing spaying and neutering services, we host a small Adoption Center to help a few puppies and kittens find loving, forever homes. If you are considering adopting a little four-legged family member, we invite you to come in and meet our little guests in person! Please read our Pet Adoption Policies (see below), or give us a call at 616-949-0960.
CHFA Pet Adoption Policies:
-
Adoption fees are $75.00 per adoption pet, or $100.00 per pet if they are already spayed or neutered. The adoption fee covers exams, routine care, any needed medications, de-worming, fungal cultures for ringworm, parasite prevention, Felv/FIV tests (kittens), Parvo tests (puppies) and vaccination series current for the pet's age.
-
Adoptions must be done in person. We can “hold” a pet for you to come in and visit by charging your credit card the full amount of the Adoption fee. Adoption pets held more than one day will be charged overnight boarding fees.
-
Prospective adopters' current and previous pets must have been spayed or neutered, and vaccines kept reasonably current in order to be able to adopt from our Adoption Center. Additionally, they will need to provide the name and phone number of their current veterinarian (if not CHFA clients) for us to contact before an adoption is approved.
-
A Spay/Neuter and Humane Care Contract will need to be read and signed by the adopting family, including current clients or non-clients.
-
A Veterinary Assistant will make a Doctor's Appointment (required, but no charge) for the next day to pick up the new little family member. (This allows the adopting client a chance to discuss vaccines, spaying or neutering, pet care and training, and gives them time to prepare for the arrival of the new pet in the home. It also gives hospital staff time to bathe the pet, update any vaccines and give an exit health exam.)
-
A Puppy or Kitten Care Kit will be given to the adopting clients. These kits contain valuable information on raising, training, and caring for the new family member. The Doctor will be happy to go over the information and answer any questions.
