Veterinarians

Dr. Richard L. Siegle, Hospital Director
Dr. Siegle is responsible for the growth of our hospital into a leader in veterinary medicine in West Michigan. A 1978 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he carries on the legacy left him by his father, the hospital's founder. His areas of special interest in veterinary medicine are dermatology, internal and preventative medicine and he is particularly sensitive to quality of life issues. Dr. Siegle lives in the Caledonia area with his wife Carla, sons Clayton and Grant, their dogs Luna (pictured) and Turner, and cats Miss Kitty and Sport.

Dr. Steven J. McBride, Medical Director
Dr. McBride joined Dr. Siegle in the practice in 1989. He is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine (1987). Orthopedic and neurologic surgery are special interests of his. He has completed many hours of post-graduate training in these areas at Michigan State University and through continuing education programs at Ohio State University. Dr. McBride lives in the Lowell area with his wife, Kathy, and cat, Stache. In his personal time, he enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking and kickboxing.

Dr. Diane M. Vander Wall
Dr. Vander Wall joined our hospital in October, 1999, after graduating from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Her special interests include internal medicine, Acupuncture and Herbal Therapy. She and her husband, Jim, live in the Kentwood area with their dogs, Onyx, Bailey and Mulligan, and cats, Frankie, Kaija, Edmund and Sempre. When not at the hospital, Dr. Vander Wall enjoys gardening, rollerblading and hiking. Dr. Vander Wall says she was attracted to Cascade Hospital for Animals because it gives her the opportunity to fulfill her goal of practicing high quality veterinary medicine.
Dr. Laura J. Sullivan
Dr. Laura Sullivan joined our team in September 2005. She is a 1998 Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine graduate. Her special interests include understanding the human / animal bond, internal medicine, soft tissue and oral surgery. She and her husband live in the Rockford area with their two children Meghan and Brady. The Sullivan household also includes two friendly felines, Malico, a male calico, and Baboons, a very spoiled female calico. During her free time, Dr Sullivan enjoys spending time with her family, reading, biking and boating.

Dr. Gregory J. Paplawsky
Dr. Greg Paplawsky joined Cascade Hospital for Animals after practicing for 5 years in the Kalamazoo area. A native of Grand Rapids, he is a 2001 graduate of Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and a 1997 graduate of Hope College. In addition to general medicine and surgery, Dr. Paplawsky is certified to perform stem cell therapy and has a special interest in zoonotic disease, dermatology, and orthopedic surgery.
He, wife Allyson, and sons Benjamin and Thomas share their home with two very precocious cats named Reggie and Quincy. Outside of work Dr. Paplawsky enjoys family time, reading, travel, working in the yard, and following local professional and college teams.
Dr. Amy J. Hoss
Dr. Hoss is a 2005 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After continuing her training in small animal medicine and surgery at a large referral hospital in Tinton Falls, New Jersey she joined Cascade Hospital for Animals in July, 2006. Dr. Hoss is certified to perform stem cell therapy and has a special interest in internal medicine. Dr. Hoss and her husband live in the Caledonia area with their dog Riley and four geckos. Dr. Hoss enjoys hiking, bicycling, and other outdoor activities.
Dr. Cherie L. Anderson
Dr. Anderson graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May, 2007. Dr. Anderson’s professional interests include feline medicine, diabetes, internal medicine, and client education. She shares her E. Grand Rapids home with her dog Keely, and four cats: Moo, Bubbaloowawee, Leo and Ollie. During her leisure time she enjoys horseback riding her horse Josie, traveling, reading, gardening and watching movies.
Dr. Ryan T. Keane
Dr. Keane joined our practice in September 2010 after working in Kalamazoo for the past five years. He is an Ohio native, and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Keane’s professional interests include ultrasound, cardiology, and anesthesia/pain control.
He shares his home with his wife Rebecca, two dogs: Benny and Lucy; and two cats: Clyde and Chelsea. Dr. Keane enjoys camping, fly fishing, fly tying, downhill skiing and most outdoor pursuits.
Dr. Tracey K. Ritzman,
Dipl. ABVP-Avian & Exotic Companion Mammal
Dr. Ritzman graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She is a native of northern Ohio.
Dr. Ritzman is a board-certified specialist by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in avian and exotic companion mammal medicine and surgery. She is the only dual board-certified veterinarian in these two specialties in the state of Michigan.
She enjoys working with dogs, cats and non-traditional pets such as birds, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, reptiles and fish. Her other interests include endoscopy and nutrition.
Dr. Ritzman supports the veterinary community through teaching in the area of avian and exotic animal medicine. She is a speaker at both national and international veterinary meetings and also mentors veterinary students and technicians in the area of her specialties.
Dr. Ritzman, her husband Anjan, and their son Rohan, recently moved to the Grand Rapids area from Phoenix, Arizona. They have cared for many foster parrots over the years; their most recent is Duncan a Patagonian conure. When they have time, they enjoy traveling to visit family and friends.
