Lasers for therapy?

Posted on 2009-08-14 07:04:29

We are testing a new Companion Therapy Laser designed to provide relief for painful joints, muscles and tendons and reported to increase healing of wounds. Unlike the surgical laser we use, this laser operates at a frequency designed to stimulate tissues rather than cut through them. Does it work? We don't know yet. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence to support the company's claims, but not a lot of good research. That is why we are doing our own testing. The company that supplies the laser has allowed us to use it for a month to assess its effectiveness. We are hoping to see if the kind of results that have been reported in human sports medicine will be duplicated in our patients. If you are interested in having your pet participate in our study, give us a call.
